Sony has announced a new tool for PS5 called Community Game Help, which will be available later this year. Community Game Help will complement the Game Help feature on PS5 by providing a wider variety of game tips and even allowing players to create their own gameplay videos for help.
Community Game Help will be available to all PS5 players, regardless of whether or not they have a PS Plus subscription. Players will be able to share their gameplay, get helpful hints from other players, as well as find hints from developers in supported titles. Game developers will still be able to create their own Community Game Help videos, as seen in games like The Last of Us: Part II Remastered and Spider-Man 2.
How to contribute to Community Game Help
Participation can be done by selecting from the Settings menu. You can also choose to opt out at any time. This will delete all published videos from the Community Game Help.
- Go to [Captures & Broadcasts] >[Captures] > [Auto Captures] > [Community Game Help], then select [Participate] to opt in to the program.
- You can also select the monthly capture limit to control how many videos you will allow to be captured from your gameplay per month.
Once activated, PS5 will automatically record a video when you complete an activity in the game. A moderator will review the video, and if it’s approved, it’ll be made available as a Game Help prompt for PS5 players to view, learn from and rate.
Videos will be removed from the PS5 once they are uploaded to Sony’s servers, so it will not impact console storage. This will happen automatically, so you don’t need to record clips for submission. You will only be able to upload raw game footage. You will not be able to upload images and audio from webcam, microphone or party chat audio. This will not be sent to the moderator or to the community.
Depending on the game, videos may include online IDs or chat messages that are shown on the game screen. Community Game Help will become available in select games later this year, and Sony’s goal is to expand it to as many titles as possible moving forward.
