Rumor: Sony in talks to bring Helldivers 2 to Xbox

Published on |

As reported by Twisted Voxel, citing a recent episode of Xbox Era Podcast, Sony Interactive Entertainment is alleged to be in preliminary talks with Microsoft to bring Helldivers 2 to Xbox Series X|S.

Xbox ERA co-founder, Balatro Nick (@Shpeshal_Nick) clarified that these were very early talks and they could end up going nowhere.

Needless to say the internet is a buzz over this as many Xbox players, including Xbox head Phil Spencer, have expressed interest in seeing the co-op shooter come to Xbox since it dropped earlier this year.

While Sony has been reluctant to embrace cross-platform in the past, new PlayStation President Hiroki Totoki seems to be open to the idea of expanding PlayStation’s portfolio beyond the console.

During an investor Q&A in Feb, he had this to say about PlayStation’s strategy moving forward.

“In the past, as you all know, we wanted to popularize [our] console, and the first-party title’s main purpose was to make the console popular.”

“It is true, but there is a synergy to it. So if you have strong first-party content, not only with our console but also other platforms like computers, a first party can be grown with multiplatform – and that can help operating profit to improve.

So that is another one we want to proactively work on.”

No word from Microsoft or Sony yet, but we’ll update once it’s been confirmed … or debunked.
