DESCRIPTION

“POLE POSITION” is a racing game released in arcades by NAMCO (Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1982. The game is divided into qualifying and Grand Prix. If you make a lap in the qualifying round with a good time, you will advance to the Grand Prix.

VISUALS

Pole Position is emulated perfectly and is as close to arcade perfect as you can get. It looks and sounds exactly like it did in the arcades and in MAME.

With 10 display filters settings, Arcade Archive titles offer a way to bring back the true nostalgic look and feel of classic games. These settings simulate scanlines, enhancing the overall retro experience.

The only downside is they used the Japanese ROM and didn’t include the international ROM. So, even though everything is in English, the iconic Prepare to Qualify banner and voice audio are in Japanese.

GAMEPLAY

The controls are super quick and responsive, so it might take a couple of races to get the hang of it. But once you do, you’ll be topping the leaderboard in no time. There are multiple options available, including Original, Caravan, and Hi Score mode.

The Original Mode allows you to customize the game settings, such as difficulty, laps, and qualifying time, and provides the option to save your progress. However, in Carvan and Hi Score modes, which are competitive modes, you cannot make any adjustments to the settings or save your game.

In Carvan mode, your objective is to complete as many laps possible within a 5-minute timeframe. In Hi Score mode, you aim to achieve the highest score possible with only one credit. You can compete worldwide and keep track of your ranking via the online leaderboards in all game modes.

REPLAYABILITY

If you’re looking for a game that you can easily pick up and play, Pole Position is a great choice. Especially if you’re a fan of classic gaming as it doesn’t get any more classic than this. The ability to compete against players worldwide and aim for the highest score is definitely enough reason to come back for more!

Long before there was Daytona USA, Ridge Racer and Need for Speed, there was Pole Position. This game set the standards for racing games and is widely regarded as one of the most influential video games ever made.

Rastan is easy enough for most to be able to pick up and play and offers enough of a challenge to keep you coming back for more.

This is, without a doubt, the best-looking Forza Motorsports game to date. In fact, it's arguably one of the best-looking racing games ever released on console.

QTR: Pole Position II | Arcade Archives – PlayStation

Many classic titles receive new releases or compilations regularly, but it has been 15 years since Pole Position II was last released in any form.

Feel the nostalgia by playing games from your childhood or discover new gems you never knew existed.

QTR: Blair Witch | Xbox

I really enjoyed this game despite its flaws. Since it’s included with Game Pass I would definitely recommend playing it. Especially if you're a horror fan.

QTR: Q*Bert: Rebooted | Playstation

While it’s not arcade perfect, this is by the far the best home console release of Q*Bert to-date. Q*Bert Rebooted ... the other mode in this bundle is complete garbage.
