No Man’s Sky Orbital Update Out Now

Published on |

Developer Hello Games has just released their 27th major update for No Man’s Sky simply entitled Orbital.

With the Orbital update, Space Stations have been completely revamped. Up until now, these were the only parts of No Man’s Sky that weren’t procedurally generated. According to the developer, this was made possible due to the game’s engine enhancements which have allowed Hello Games to create huge interior and exterior areas, with enhanced reflections and metal surfaces.

While on the outside, the exteriors of Space Station are quite impressive, inside, they’ve been completely re-engineered and are now ‘vast, procedurally generated and incredibly diverse’. With new shops, gameplay, and activities, they’re now customised by system, race and location.

They’ve also added one of the most requested features: a ship editor! Players can now customize their ships and create never-before-seen starship types. In order to customize your ship, Players will need to collect and trade parts which can be found by exploring and collecting the best parts from wrecked ships and debris.

Finally, Hello Games introduced a new Guild system which means joining a Guild and improving your reputation a much bigger deal in game. Players will be able to visit new Guild emissaries on space stations to get supplies and rare items, or you can make donations to improve your reputation.

Players can also own their own freighter, and can even build a fleet of frigates that can be sent on far-flung missions, and if they run aground, as a frigate captain you’ll have the chance to bravely rescue them. Scramble your squad of fighters, and warp to battles to engage your attackers.

The No Man’s Sky Orbital Update is out now for PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. Patch Notes are available here.
